  • Futureproof

By putting your recovery seed into stainless steel (AISI 316L) your seed is less susceptible to fire, water and acids.

  • Simple and clear

The attached Sleeve allows you to only work on one word and column per time so you won't mix up any lines, columns or characters. Also the Puncher Pen creates super clear punctures.

  • Low costs per seed

When you have more than one recovery seed to protect or want several copies you can save money by buying a Double or a Triple since you can re-use the Sleeve and Puncher Pen each plate.

FAQ

What is a private key and recovery seed phrase?

A private key is a cryptographic key which basically is a long string of 0's and 1's. The private key is created by a software or hardware wallet (we recommend using a hardware wallet). It's also stored on the device where it's created on.

Your private key is the key to all your crypto receiving addresses (public keys). It's essential to backup the private key in case your (hardware) wallet gets lost or broken.

As a human you generally won't get to see the private key itself since it's hard to read, note down and remember. Instead you will get to see the recovery seed phrase. These are 12, 18 or 24 words which are easily readable and writable. You can use the recovery seed phrase to restore the private key and therefore the access to your crypto funds.

The SOLIDHODL enables you to punch these words down into stainless steel. This way it's protected for life.

What is the difference between the SINGLE, DOUBLE and TRIPLE?

The basis containments of a SINGLE, DOUBLE or TRIPLE are all the same. The only differences are the amounts of stainless steel SOLIDHODL plates:

  • Single: 1 plate
  • Double: 2 plates
  • Triple: 3 plates

When calculating the costs per recorded recovery seed you save 38 euro's by purchasing a Triple. Also the outer box has small printing differences.

Why only 4 letters per column?

The first four letters of each word in a recovery seed (which comes from the BIP39 word list) has unique first four letters. You only need the first four letters of each word to restore a private key.

What is the 'NAME' section for?

In the 'NAME' section you have in total space for eight characters to name your SOLIDHODL plate for administrative purposes.

This is optional.

Do I need to keep the sleeve?

You don't have to keep the Sleeve after use.

It can help with reading the recovery seed from a SOLIDHODL plate during a recovery process but it's definitely not necessary since all characters are on each plate twice on each site.
